VACANCY FOR THE POSITION OF A MEMBER OF THE FISH LEVY TRUST FUND BOARD OF TRUSTEE: ONE (1) POSITION

The Fish Levy Trust Fund is established under Part IV, Section 28 of the Fisheries Management and Development Act, 2016 whose objective is to provide supplementary funding of activities geared towards management, development and capacity building, awards and urgent mitigation to ensure sustainability of the fisheries resource. In Exercise of the powers conferred by section 28 (5) of the Fisheries Management and Development Act, 2016 the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries declares a vacancy in the position of a member of the Fish Levy Trust Fund Board of Trustee.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities of the member of the Fish Levy Trust Fund Board of Trustee include:
1. Management, supervision and administration of the Trust Fund in accordance with the
provisions of the Act and attendant regulations;
2. Receive donations intended for the achievement of the objective of the Trust Fund;
3. Invest monies of the Trust Fund based on professional advice;
4. Keeping of proper books and records of account with respect to income, expenditure, liabilities and assets of the fund;
5. Liaise with the any professionals engaged by the fund;
6. Operate bank accounts;
7. Perform any other function pertaining to the object of the Fund in accordance with the provisions of the Act and attendant regulations.

Requirements for Appointment

A Person shall be qualified to be a member of Board if such person;
(1) Is a citizen of Kenya;
(2) Is not a Public Officer;
(3) Holds a University degree or its equivalent in Aquatic Science;
(4) Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Terms of Service and Benefits

The members of the Board shall be appointed on a non-executive position for a term of three (3) years renewable once.
A member of the Board will be entitled to allowances and other benefits as determined by Government from time to time.
