Kenya, Netherlands seek cooperation in agriculture

Kenya and the Netherlands, on Monday signed terms of reference for bilateral cooperation in agriculture.

Mwangi Kiunjuri, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation who signed the deal in Nairobi with Dutch Vice Minister for Agriculture, Nature and Food quality Marjolijn Sonnema said the pact will also promote cooperation in trade, investment and research.

“Pact signed in Nairobi seeks to facilitate cooperation between the two countries in promoting agricultural trade, investment and research as well as facilitating exchange of knowledge and technologies for sustainable response to climate change,” the ministry said in a statement issued in Nairobi.

The two ministers noted the two countries have had cordial relations for long and enhancing it would boost trade between them.

According to the ministry, the bilateral cooperation specifically seeks to strengthen agribusiness in horticulture, floriculture, potatoes, aquaculture and dairy value chains.
