Apply for Employment as Agricultural Assistant at NYC
2 min readThe National Youth Council (NYC) in Kenya has announced atleast 20 agricultural assistant job vacancies in their departments.
NYC, a semi-autonomous Government Agency coordinates activities being undertaken by youth focused non-state actors. The Council acts as a ‘voice and bridge’ to ensure that government and other policy makers are kept informed of the views and aspirations of the youth.
The vacancies announced comes at a time when the country is grappling with the effect of the coronavirus pandemic. The situation according to various reports released by the media has led to loss of jobs and closure of businesses across the country. Atleast 1.7 million youths lost employment in a period of 4 months.
The council seeks to offer employment to the Kenyan youth aged thirty five (35) years and below.
Successful applicants will be employed under permanent and pensionable terms and as agricultural assistant, will fall under a salary scale of between 18,000 shillings and 30,000 shillings.
The vacancy is in entry and training grade and an officer may be deployed as an assistant to departmental instructors. Work at this level will involve undertaking both general and specialized duties.
Apart from being in the youth bracket, interested individuals must have attained a minimum grade of D(Plain) in KCSE or its approved equivalent. They must also have undergone the initial NYS paramilitary programme at NYS College, Gilgil and be in possession of national trade test, craft or diploma certificates.
