Government to establish Livestock Disease-Free Zones
1 min readAgriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Cabinet Secretary Willy Bett says the Government will establish Livestock Disease-Free Zones where animals will be quarrantined for screening and treatment to check the spread of diseases.
This he says, will guarrantee good health for animals and ensure that animal diseases are not transferred to other animals or human beings. He noted that 60 per cent of animal diseases also afflict human beings.
He was inspecting the on-going construction of the Bachuma Livestock export zone in Taita-Taveta County on August 30, 2016, where animals will be screened for diseases before they are exported.
The CS also toured the Mariakani Veterinary Investigation Laboratories (VIL) in Mariakani, Kilifi County.
