Bill in parliament to improve livestock production and research.

There is a bill in parliament currently aimed at helping farmers guide the development of desirable traits in livestock and plants . If passed to law, it will lead to the establishment of Kenya Livestock Breeding board and will come up with standards for selected livestock breeding processes and enforcement of the same for purposes of products quality assurance and scaling.

Modern, indigenous and pastoralist breeders will be incorporated in an association of breeders which will be formed and all this will be done in liaison with the county governments. There exists diverse genetic animal resources in Kenya which the bill seeks to protect should it be made into law.
